New Pathways Cognitive Coaching
What is
CBT?
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT helps us explore how our thinking (cognition) affects our feelings and actions (behavior). We won't begin to feel differently until we begin to behave differently and vice versa. CBT helps us to put these changes into effect.
CBT techniques can help trace damaging emotions back to the thought that caused them. Once the thought is identified, it can be examined for truthfulness and corrected. You will be surprised at how many negative emotions are caused by distorted thoughts.

Help Me?
CBT is designed to empower you by giving you tools to overcome personal obstacles. That means that sessions do not go on endlessly or aimlessly. CBT sessions have a definite purpose - to give you the power to stand up to unwanted emotions on your own. They will put you in the driver's seat and not your emotions. Once sessions have fulfilled their purpose, they can be reduced then finished.
Some of the things CBT can empower you to overcome include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Grief
- Phobias
- Low-Self Esteem
- Insomnia
- Eating Disorders
- Relationships Issues
- Substance Misuse
- Communication Problems
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
